Kindergarten Round-up

Today was Mia's "Kindergarten Round-up" at Creek View Elementary. It sounds fun doesn't it? All Mia could think about was Halle's Kindergarten thing last year...and the tour she got (at Lakewood) and the bag and crayons and how fun it would be.

So naturally, this one was nothing like it! :( We were "corralled" into the cafeteria where we watched a power point presentation on what to expect next year. It was more for the parents and boring for the kids. We picked up the registration packets and viola...done.

Now keep in mind, Mia has been aware of this event for a week. Everyday asking, "When is my round up?"

So here we on are the way and she is saying " Am I going to make friends?"

Here is Mia as we sit in the boring cafeteria..." When is recess? Are we going to have recess? What do I need? Yada yada yada..." She couldn't sit still, "when was her tour?"

SHE WANTED TO GO TO KINDERGARTEN LAST YEAR FOLKS....WHAT'S THE HOLD UP?

"When do I meet my teacher?"

On and on...all I could do was laugh. And feel sorry for her it didnt meet her expectations...:) Her first disappointment for Kindergarten. :)

Bless her little heart, she just wants to get going already!

Luckily, we have a friend in our ward who is a Kindergarten teacher, so when she knew how disappointed Mia was, she took us on a tour of her class and the surroundings. :)

Mia is so funny. She already knows 1/2 of the sight words for kindergarten...when they said you should make sure your child knows how to write their name, knows their address, and can tie shoes...well...she said, " I can already do that!"

I hope Kindergarten doesnt prove to be too boring for her because "she knows it all!" :)

At least she can look forward to her Kindergarten day with Mom, like I always do with each kid! Lunch and shopping! :)

Halle's Kindergarten Class

Halle's Kindergarten class is counting down the last 26 days of school with the alphabet. So each day they have something fun. It is pretty fun for them. They either do something, or wear something. Her teacher is great, she emails me pictures of what they do during the day and I love to get them and see her with her new friends!

Fun with Nana

My mom came to visit Tuesday. We were so excited for her to come and play with us in our new house. We didnt do much, but we had a lot of fun. It is so nice to just sit around and relax and play and do whatever we want. We watched a lot of movies, went to the mall, hung out with Pam, played outside. Nana even bought the kids a little pool to play in. The girls each took turns sleeping with her and had so much fun. We were sad to see her go. She left today to go take care of my aunt, who is in the hospital again. We cant wait to see her again soon. Thanks for visiting Nana...we love you and already miss you!

So last week we started reading the scriptures, with a goal to read them in 100 days. About 6 years ago I was in Young Women's in the Ranches, and we had a Youth goal with a scripture challenge to read them in 100 days. I kept my book with the scripture list and we decided to do it as a family. Every night we sit the girls down with their own scriptures, pencils and they have notebooks. They can follow along, or draw, whatever, as long as they are listening. We listen to the scriptures on cd.

It has been such a wonderful blessing in our lives, even in the short week. Jayda is so excited to read them every night and is in charge of the cd player and she follows along, stops to pause for questions and understanding, and is really enjoying it.

Halle and Mia aren't so attentive, but they try. They mark their scriptures (randomly - of course :) and draw and occasionally ask questions. But since they cant read quite yet...it is more challenging.

Sienna, well, what do I say. Of course she is all over the place and bugging Ryder and generally, not paying attention....or so we think.

After we read about Nephi and his brothers going back to get the plates from Laban...we read that the brothers were scared and started to run (from Nephi dressed as Laban) and that he had in fact retrieved the plates. When we were finished, she says...out of the blue...."so who got the plates? who was scared?" Of course it was in much cuter words and unfortunately I cant remember them exactly, but we were so shocked! Who knew she is paying attention.

Yesterday, Mia was taking a shower in my bathroom, and she was opening the shower door to look at the other girls in the bathroom...she leaned over and giggled and what not....well, as I was out of the room, she slipped and fell on the metal part that you step over to get in the shower...YIKES...yep, she landed right on her pelvis bone (right side) and there is a nice little cut and bruise there. She was screaming bloody murder of course and the pain was just so unbearable...apparently...in her screams....bless her little innocent heart...she said.." Why cant Jesus come and heal me?" Oh, I want to cry thinking about it. Her little innocent plea, through her crying screams of pain! I had to double take and try not to cry or laugh....but it was a moment written in my heart forever.

What a blessing to have the gospel to teach us and our children. The influence that comes from reading the scriptures is real. Our home is so much more peaceful and full of love and well..not perfect, lets be realistic....the girls still have their moments of arguing and fighting, but now, I have noticed, we have more tender and spiritual moments among the ruckus.

Sienna asked Grandpa the other day when they came over after church..."Where is your primary?" As in, where do you go to class at? (He was asking her about her Nursery, so she asked him about his)

What precious little angels we have for such a short time.
I hope I can be a righteous mother and train them up to be all they were sent here to be.

School & Play

Tuesday, Jayda and Halle went to their new school... Creek View Elementary. It is a brand new school, this is the first year it is open. So it is really nice. They did really good for being new kids in school. I am so proud of them. I know it is hard.

They have good teachers and because we live so close, they must be taken to school, there is no bus. :( So Nelson drives them to school on his way to work (around 7:35) and then I pick them up at 3pm. It works out really good actually and we are so thankful. It is nice to have Nelson working so close. Previously, he drove an hour to work and an hour back everyday!

While the girls are at school, we just play. We have gone to the park. We usually run errands, and Ryder just plays around the house. He loves to crawl everywhere and just goes crazy! He cant believe we aren't stopping him from crawling somewhere. (Like we had to do in our previous house). He just crawls everywhere and pushes his little pig toy, or a bus, or a train around the whole house! He is definitely a boy.



Most days, we all go outside and the girls ride their jeep around, their bikes, and scooters. They even give Ryder rides if he can stand it. :)

But mostly, we just have fun and play...even studious Ryder. :)

Earth Day

Today was "Earth Day" and Jayda's school (1st graders) put on a little show for Earth day. It was so cute! And Jayda, wow, what a good sport. She only had two days to learn 5 songs and movements. She did super good for the short amount of time! It was the cutest Recycle Program. Jayda was a little nervous (she is super shy) but she did so good! :)

Moving Day

So Friday, the 16th, we loaded up our stuff in Tomball and finally got all squared away by 8:30pm. (Big thanks to our friends who helped us load!)We grabbed some dinner and headed to College Station, our new home. We planned on staying with Ben and Pam (my in-laws) friday night, then getting up early to unload. About 8am in the morning, we met some wonderful helpers from our new ward to help us unload. Pam kept the kids, and we unloaded it all, and had the whole day to unpack! (The kids came and went a couple of times...and tried to help...) :)




We almost had the entire house unpacked by nighttime! It was so nice. The kids came in and out and just were so excited.

It was the perfect way to move. We still have a few more things to unpack and will in time, after we get some shelves and things to book our books/ games on. But for now, it is nice and clean and simple in our home and we couldn't love it more!
